Visiting Assistant Professor of Photography
Description
The Art, Art History, and Film Department of Boston College invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Photography. This is a full-time, one-year contract for the 2024-25 academic year. Our dedicated faculty offers students an individualized education to guide them in their respective areas of inquiry, while striving to provide an inclusive and innovative climate. The successful applicant will help us advance and diversify our commitment to undergraduate teaching in both the classroom and advising our students. The appointee will teach a combination of introductory level classes in both analog and digital photography, as well as advanced-level course(s) related to studio or location lighting and advanced darkroom classes. Being fluent in both analog darkroom procedures (including small, medium and large-format camera techniques, film processing, traditional and non-silver printing), digital photography and post production (primarily using the adobe suite), and inkjet printing is a requirement.聽
They should have a robust professional photography practice and exhibition record, including gallery/museum shows. A community based, social practice with extensive record or ongoing mission will also be considered.
The appointee will participate in advising and mentoring students, and contribute to departmental service. The course load is six classes per academic year.聽

Qualifications
Applicants should have an MFA degree, three years of teaching experience at the college level, and a robust professional photography practice and extensive exhibition record.
