Alan J. Ryan, William H. Bonsall Visiting Professor at Stanford University and retired Princeton University professor of politics, will deliver the conference's keynote address. Ryan has written and edited several books on John Stuart Mill, theories of property and the philosophy of the social sciences. His most recent books are听John Dewey and the High Tide of American Liberalism听(1995) and听Liberal Anxieties and Liberal Education听(1998).
