Amy LaCombe

Profile

As Professor of the Practice, Amy LaCombe has been involved with the Carroll School for more than two decades in a variety of teaching and administrative聽roles.

She is currently one of the original three faculty still teaching聽Portico since its roll-out for the entire first-year class in 2009. In addition, she聽is the assistant department chair for the Portico program, where she collaborates with the undergraduate curriculum committee, is the representative to the Assurance of Learning Committee, and works with the聽Winston Center for Leadership and Ethics聽on curricular offerings and student programming.

Professor LaCombe previously served as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Curriculum and Assistant Dean for Advising in the Carroll School鈥檚 Undergraduate Program, where she advised sophomores and juniors. She has previously taught first-year courses like 鈥淭he Courage To Know鈥 and 鈥淚ntroduction to Ethics," and was also a full-time lecturer in the Accounting Department for five years, teaching courses in financial accounting, managerial accounting, accounting information systems, and assurance services in the M.S.A. program.

Professor LaCombe's聽dissertation research focused on whether first generation student status is a predictor of factors such as graduation rate, grade point average, and choice of study.

Professor LaCombe聽is currently the faculty advisor to the Best Buddies chapter at Boston College and has also served as the faculty advisor to AHANA Management Academy and advised students throughout her more than two decades at Boston College.
