Antonio C. F. dos Santos is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering at Boston College. His research involves developing processes with cells and proteins for multiple applications from first conception to industrial scale production. The industries his work has contributed to include biofuels, bioproducts, tissue engineering and drug development. His current work with the Gaudette Lab focuses on cellular agriculture and tissue engineering to treat skin injuries. Dr. dos Santos enjoys mentoring students and working with undergraduates in the lab to explore research opportunities related to bioprocessing and tissue engineering.
Prior to joining Boston College, Antonio was a postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Renewable Resources Engineering at Purdue University, working on drug development and biomass liquefaction. He earned his Ph.D. at Purdue in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. His doctoral research explored the challenges of biomass handling and transformation at high concentrations that are needed at industrial scale.
