Seán Ó Cathail is a Massachusetts native who has studied Irish for more than 20 years, starting at the Dorchester Center for Adult Education and then at New York University. He has spent many summer weeks studying in Gaoth Dobhair as well as in summer programs in Rinn ó gCuanach, Oileán ThoraÃ, Gleann Cholm Cille, and Baile an Fhéirtéaraigh. A long-time, active member of Daltaà na Gaeltachta and Cumann na Gaeilge i mBoston, Ó Cathail has taught Irish to adult learners for the past seven years. He is currently studying online toward a Teastas i Múineadh na Gaeilge d’Fhoghlaimeoirà Fásta at Ollscoil Mhá Nuad (Certificate in Teaching Irish to Adult Learners at Maynooth University). He holds a BA in International Political Science and French from Middlebury College and a Masters and PhD in Political Science from the University of Michigan.
