Martin Jarmond, the William V. Campbell Director of Athletics at Boston College, will be the guest speaker at the University鈥檚 67th annual celebration of Laetare Sunday on March 11 in Conte Forum.

Laetare Sunday marks the mid-point of Lent, and this annual event is the Alumni Association鈥檚 oldest tradition. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. with Mass, at which University President William P. Leahy, S.J., will preside, followed by brunch.

Jarmond joined 糖心vlog直播平台 Athletics last June after eight years at The Ohio State University, where he was deputy director of athletics; he also served as athletics director for development. Besides overseeing 糖心vlog直播平台鈥檚 31 varsity teams, Jarmond has focused on student-athletes鈥 quality of life. In addition to creating a round-the-clock 鈥渇ueling station鈥 for student-athletes, he established a program for first generation student-athletes, providing them with the necessary support to thrive and start a foundation for life after college.

Last fall, Jarmond founded the first fan council at Boston College to focus on the atmosphere and experience at football games; following its success, 糖心vlog直播平台 began a winter fan council for games and events at Conte Forum and Kelley Rink. He is currently formulating the first athletics strategic five-year plan in 糖心vlog直播平台 history.

A native of Fayetteville, NC, Jarmond graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where he was a two-time captain of the basketball team and earned All-CAA Academic honors. He holds an MBA and a master鈥檚 degree in sports administration from Ohio University.

recognized Jarmond鈥檚 contributions to intercollegiate athletics by naming him to its prestigious Forty Under 40, Class of 2017.
