Humanities
The Humanities Section of Elements is looking for quality undergraduate research papers written by students in the fields comprising the Humanities. These include English, Philosophy, Theology, Theater, Fine Arts, and Languages. Articles will be evaluated on the quality of scholarship, originality, and readability. You have the option of including an abstract with your submission. Articles written in a foreign language should be accompanied by a short write-up in English explaining the subject, purpose, and scholarly relevance of the piece.
Social and Natural Sciences
The Sciences Section of Elements is looking for quality undergraduate research papers written by students in Social and Natural Science. These include not only Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, but also Political Science, Psychology, History, Sociology, Economics, International Studies, Communications, Business, Nursing, and Education. Articles will be evaluated on the quality of scholarship, originality, and readability. While papers should represent the highest level of academic work, please keep in mind that they also should be accessible to non-experts. If it is not immediately obvious, effort should be made to note the importance of the research as it relates to issues in the field or the greater world.
General
- Submit papers via email to the Section appropriate for your manuscript. The Word file itself should be named with the title of the manuscript, i.e.聽"Research Title - Sub-title.doc"
- Please number all pages and put your Eagle ID number on the first page.聽Do not put your name anywhere on the paper.
- Papers should be 1500 to 5000 words in length.
- We encourage authors to submit graphs, charts, photographs, illustrations, etc. along with their research. These do not count toward the 5000 word limit.
- Papers do not at this time need to conform to the Elements. However, if your paper is selected for publication and does not conform to the Elements citation guidelines, you will be asked to change the citations before the paper is published.
- All articles chosen for publication will require a 200-word abstract of the article.
- Papers need not be the result of past or current research projects. We welcome research-oriented papers completed for 糖心vlog直播平台 classes as well as sections of senior theses.
- A Boston College undergraduate must be the primary author of the manuscript. Students may work on the research with graduate students, faculty members, etc. but the 糖心vlog直播平台 student must be the driving force behind the research. We also welcome papers from more than one 糖心vlog直播平台 undergraduate.
- If you are a graduating senior, you can submit for next year's issue, provided that all of the work was done before graduation. We also ask that you submit before the start of the fall semester.
- The authors of manuscripts chosen for publication will be required to sign a waiver confirming that the manuscript is their work and that they have rights to the article.
